Hi everyone.
Some good news for me at the start of the new year. Dad is home from hospital. He is weak but in good spirits . Social services are going to visit to assess what his additional needs are so all is looking much better. I am so relieved.
Mum is already moaning about him talking too much and getting on her nerves (no pleasing someSmile )which is a good sign that she's geting back to normal!!!

Many thanks everyone for your kind thoughts and prayers.

love

Thanks everyone for your lovely comments. I had a chat with mum tonight. Her carer is getting things moving. She's brilliant with dad and has even persuaded him to go for a day's respite care once a week! The prospect of being able to have a good chin wag won him overBigGrin They are upping the care to include someone to cook a midday meal for them as well, which puts my mind at rest. The nurse was saying that his heart is getting weaker so I suppose that we'll have to face the inevitable....I take great comfort from the fact that he is in his own home and will hopefully be there for the rest of his days.I know that's what he wants.

God bless

This is SO much better, Marie. It'll be lovely for your Mum to have somone to cook a midday meal for them. I don't know if you've heard of Wiltshire Farm Foods, but they are very good to have in the freezer - I used to get them for Dad. They are very reasonable, very good quality and a great standby.

I'm sure your Dad will also enjoy his day at the day centre. The day centre in Altrincham is run by a friend of mine, and they do all sorts of things with the patients - including day trips in the better weather. It'll also give your Mum time to re-charge her batteries.

Glad it all looks so positive.

Love Jeanxxxxx

Thanks Jean- especially for the Wiltshire farm foods- sounds a good idea. She's been having 'meals on wheels' or whatever they're called these days but she doesn't really like them and the fact that she doesn't get a choice.

Dear Maria,

I was wondering how your parents are? How is your Dad managing?

Hi Amanda

Bless you for thinking of me. Mum's fine, thanks- Dad's back in hospital though- went in last Saturday as he was having difficulty breathing.

He's now in the cardiac unit as his heart rate is too fast. They've been trying to get it down again, but we've been told that there's nothing more they can do- he will just contnue to deteriorate. Although the news isn't unexpected, it's hit me hard this week. I know it's an inevitable part of getting older- but I can't get my head around it all. At heart he's still my dad and I'm his little girl. Or not so little these daysBigGrin

Much love

Maria x
